We have strict requirements for our materials, as this is crucial to durability and safety of our tube slides and to the fun they provide for both children and adults. By using high-quality materials, we can guarantee tube slides that last for years and provide maximum safety.

What constitutes high-quality materials for us?

For us, high-quality materials are materials we know and can vouch for after having used them for many years. We have been using the material polyethylene for our tube slides as well as steel, nylon, polyethylene (HDPE) and polycarbonate for our accessories for more than 25 years, and they continue to prove their worth. They are all low-maintenance materials, highly durable and long-lasting – even in extreme temperatures, making them reliable in any environment.

The composition of the material is essential to achieving the best quality. We therefore get our polyethylene developed specifically for us. This means that we, amongst other things, are sure that the material is UV-stabilised to reduce colour fading, that it is free of toxins and recyclable.

Our goal is always to give children and adults the best possible experience with our tube slides, and, also here, high-quality materials play a big role. With a polyethylene tube slide, you do not have to worry about burning yourself on the surface on hot and sunny days. Unlike steel, for example, polyethylene is resistant to the rays of the sun and therefore does not become burning hot.

Highlights of the advantages of our materials

Lasting safety

Our materials meet strict requirements for durability and resistance to wear and tear as well as impacts from wind and weather, which contributes to guaranteeing the safety of the tube slide even after many years of use.

Low-maintenance

We ensure that you save resources, in terms of both time and money, by using materials that do not require maintenance.

Recyclable

We think about the next generation and therefore prioritise materials that are recyclable and can be used for another purpose when they need to be replaced.

Free from harmful substances

Our materials have passed a PAH test, and we are therefore sure that they do not contain heavy metals or other toxins. This protects the health and well-being of both our production employees and the children who use the tubes.

A safe choice of materials from top to bottom

We have great focus on the material used for our tubes as it makes up the majority of the tube slide, but that does not mean that we compromise on the rest. The support system and all tube slide accessories are also produced in carefully selected materials.

Our support system consists of galvanised steel posts that is protected against corrosion and ensure a stable construction. In addition, all posts have a powder-coated finish. The high-quality powder coating provides a strong surface that is resistant to scratches, impacts and graffiti.

Our accessories include windows that can be chosen as an add-on for certain types of tubes. Here we use transparent polycarbonate, which is extremely impact-resistant regardless of temperatures and which basically means that the window is unbreakable. This makes the window extremely resistant to both wear and vandalism.

Even down to the smallest details, like our nut covers, we have made sure to use impact-resistant nylon (PA6). Also here, we can guarantee a low-maintenance material that can withstand extreme temperatures and has UV protection that extends the life of the colours.

Choice of material is about both safety and giving children the best possible experience which support their development optimally.

Materials

Polyethylene

The polyethylene we use for our tube components and accessories is developed specifically for LEDON to achieve the highest possible quality. The material is low-maintenance, recyclable and extremely hard-wearing.

The polyethylene has also passed a PAH test, which means that it is non-toxic. It is also designed to be impact resistant between -40°C and +80°C, and it does not become burning hot in the sun either.

The tube components come in five different colours, and the polyethylene boards are available in 11 different colours, all UV-stabilised. We can therefore provide a five-year warranty against significant colour fading.

Posts and fittings

All posts and fittings are hot-dip galvanised to prevent corrosion. This ensures a very stable construction, which does not change over time.

In addition, both posts and fittings have a powder-coated finish. The powder coating is of the highest quality, and results in highly scratch and impact-resistant surfaces, which are also graffiti-resistant. The coating process is completely solvent-free, and waste materials from the powder coating are reused, ensuring a more sustainable and eco-friendly process.

Transparent polycarbonate

The windows are made of transparent polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is extremely impact-resistant in the temperature range between -40°C and +120°C, which basically means that it is unbreakable. The material is UV-protected, so that wind and weather do not affect its appearance, nor will the board fade despite exposure to many hours of sunlight.

Ropes and netting

All ropes and nets are made of Tai fun rope consisting of six strands with eight steel strands in each – i.e. a total of 48 steel wires. This provides a tensile strength of 4500 kg, and the rope is therefore highly resistant to vandalism. The rope does not degrade or stretch with use.

Nut covers

All our nuts and bolt ends are capped with nut covers to protect children from sharp edges. The nut covers also protect the tube slides from unnecessary dismantling.

Like our other fibre parts, the nut covers are made of nylon (PA6), which means that they do not fade in the sunlight and are impact-resistant at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +100°C.

Fibre parts – nylon

All fibre parts are made of nylon (PA6) to prevent fingers from sticking to the surface in frosty weather. The handles are rounded and shaped to provide a good grip, which minimises the risk of eye and dental injuries. All parts are low-maintenance, and both the raw materials and colours are UV-stabilised to prevent fading. The fibre parts are also impact-resistant at temperatures between -40°C and +100°C.

Bolts and nuts

All our tube slides are assembled with low-maintenance bolts and locking nuts. This ensures the strongest construction, requiring only a minimum of maintenance or subsequent tightening. All bolts are produced in hot-dip galvanised steel or stainless steel, depending on the application, such as flanges, support systems etc.
