A fun alternative to stairs

Tube slides are a fantastic addition to any playground as they can be used to create a fun and memorable play experience. However, tube slides have a vast number of functions aside from just being a fun play activity. Tube slides can also be used as a way to implement a playful element to a space as well as provide an alternative to stairs.

Lilleskolen, a primary school in Odense, aimed to improve its surroundings with a more playful element. The goal was to provide a fun alternative to the stairs from their rooftop terrace, but also to give the terrace new life, by transforming it into a space that students could actively use.

As the slide is located on school grounds, safety was a key factor in the design phase. To ensure the best and safest play experience, the tube slide was designed with a spiral curve, creating a fun yet safe experience for children of all ages. A built-in window allows for natural light to enter the slide, and the custom designed start panel showcases the school’s logo, graphics and visual identity. An anti-climb panel was also added to the tube slide to discourage and prevent children from climbing up the slide.

Due to the tube slides start height, an exit extension was added to provide children with a softer landing. This additional element, improves both the level of safety as well as the overall play experience.
